Christopher Howard is managing editor at the College Art Association, working on CAA News and www.collegeart.org. He also served as staff editor of caa.reviews from 2001 to 2005. Howard earned a BA in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Florida in Gainesville and an MA in art history from Hunter College, City University of New York, where his thesis examined “The Critical Reception of Dennis Oppenheim, 1962–70.”
As a critic and curator, Howard has written on art and music for Artforum.com, the Brooklyn Rail, Art Notes, the Art Book, ’Sup, the Orlando Weekly, and Ink Nineteen, among other publications. Since 2006 he has organized critically praised exhibitions in Brooklyn and Manhattan, including Crystal Wagner: Hybrid Jungle at Famous Accountants, Enantiomorphic Chamber at NURTUREart (with Kevin Regan), The Pursuit of Happiness at Sarah Bowen Gallery, The Early Show: Video from 1969–79 at the Bertha and Karl Leubsdorf Art Gallery at Hunter College (with Constance De Jong and fellow Hunter students), and Well Read, also at NURTUREart.
